The Indian army on Friday said it lost contact with a military plane carrying 29 to a series of remote islands in the Bay of Bengal, pointing out that the ships and surveillance aircraft began its search for the plane.
Air Force spokesman Anupam Banerjee confirmed that the plane "took off at about half past eight (three in the morning GMT), carrying 29 soldiers."
Banerjee pointed out that it was due to land the plane by midday, "but the date has passed it landed, and began to look for work."
The aircraft (Oa.on 3), was a flight from the city of Chennai began south of the country this morning on its way to the city of Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and has been further contact with her after take-off on 15 minutes, according to an army spokesman.
